English: Monument in St Mary's Church, Battle, Sussex, to Sir Anthony Browne (d.1548), KG, of Battle Abbey and Cowdray Park, both in Sussex, England, a Member of Parliament and a courtier who served as Master of the Horse to King Henry VIII. Shwing his effigy and that of his first wife Alice Gage (d.1540). Inscription: "Here lieth the Knight Honorable Sir Anthony Browne, Knyght of the Garter, Master of the kyngs majestes horcys and one of the honorable privy councel of our most drad Sovereygn Lord and victorious prince King Henry the Eyght and dame Alis his wife whiche Alis decesid the 31 day of Marche AD 1540 and the sayd Sir Anthony decesid 6 day of May AD 1548 on whois sowls and all Cristen I.H.V have mercy. Amen"
