Of the present rapidly augmenting group ofAmerican landscape painters, Y >ung was a pioneerin tlie field of snow painting, and his firstCanvases, exhibited in the early nineties, were pic-tures «>t the Snowclad landscape in the vicinity of Philadelphia, or gleaned from the more picturesqueand varied surroundings of Gettysburg, his nativetown.
