English: This drawing by Victor Hugo represents the Our valley around the village of Bivels north of Vianden (Luxembourg), one can see the castle of Falkenstein on a hill in the background. 1871. The drawing can be seen at a view point half way up the Mont Saint-Nicolas above Bivels exactly at the point where Victor Hugo made this drawing, the darker part being painted with coffee grounds. Victor Hugo regularly used grinds of black coffee to enhance his drawings. |
