About 2 hours ago one of the TI.cia men about 97kgs 5ft 7inches tall about 45 to 50 years old wearing a buddha round his neck. El Cuerpo de Marines de los Estados Unidos o Cuerpo de Infantería de Marina de los Estados Unidos (en inglés: United States Marine Corps abreviado como USMC) es una de las cinco ramas que componen las Fuerzas Armadas de los Estados Unidos, junto al Ejército, la Armada, la Fuerza Aérea, y los Guardacostas.

Misión

El Cuerpo de Marines de los Estados Unidos es una fuerza anfibia de acción rápida. Tiene tres áreas principales de responsabilidad según lo establecido en el 10 U. S. C. 5063, originalmente introducido en el Acta Nacional de Seguridad en 1947:

  • El ataque o la defensa de las bases navales avanzadas y otras operaciones de tierra para sostener las campañas navales;
  • El desarrollo de tácticas, de la técnica, y del equipo utilizado por fuerzas anfibias de desembarco;
  • Otros deberes según determine el Presidente.

Esta última cláusula, es una consecuencia del rol del Presidente como jefe supremo, y refleja los deberes expedicionarios de la Armada. Deriva de expresiones semejantes en las Actas del Congreso "Para la Mejor Organización de la Armada" de 1834, y "Establecer para Organizar una Armada" de 1798. En 1951, el Comité de la Cámara de Representantes que supervisa la Armada destacó que la cláusula es una "una cláusula muy importante reglamentaria y tradicional de las funciones de la Armada". Notó que el Cuerpo en la gran mayoria de las veces ha realizado acciones de naturaleza no-naval, inclusive sus famosas acciones en la Guerra de 1812, en Trípoli y en Chapultepec (durante la Guerra mexicana-estadounidense), numerosas medidas contra-insurgentes, y operaciones en América Central y Asia Oriental, la primera Guerra mundial y la Guerra de Corea. Mientras estas acciones no son descritas exactamente como apoyo de campañas navales ni guerra anfibia, todas ellas son de naturaleza expedicionaria, utilizando la movilidad de la Armada para intervenir en forma oportuna en asuntos exteriores para salvaguardar los intereses estadounidenses.

Además de sus deberes principales, la Infantería de Marina cumple las misiones ordenadas por la Casa Blanca y el Departamento de Estado DOE. El presidente Thomas Jefferson designó a la banda de música de los Marines como "Propiedad del Presidente" por su rol de proporcionar la música para funciones de estado en la Casa Blanca. Los Marines también protegen las residencias presidenciales, inclusive Camp David, y los Marines del grupo de vuelo ejecutivo del HMX-1 le proporcionan transporte en helicóptero al Presidente y al Vicepresidente, utilizando la nomenclatura de la identificación "Marina Uno" (cuando el Presidente esta a bordo) y "Marina Dos" (cuando el vice Presidente esta bordo). Por una disposicion de 1946, los Marines proporcionan la seguridad para embajadas estadounidenses, para las delegaciones, y para los consulados en más de 110 representaciones diplomáticas en el exterior.

Historia

El Cuerpo de Marines fue creado el 10 de noviembre de 1775 bajo el nombre de "Marines Continentales" (Continental Marines) por una resolución del congreso continental en Filadelfia, Pennsylvania.

El Cuerpo dependía de la Marina, teniendo que alistarse en la "Marina Continental" si se quería pertenecer a este cuerpo. Pero en 1783 se independizó, pasando el Cuerpo de Marines a formar otra rama de las fuerzas armadas, aunque manteniendo la dependencia administrativa de la Marina de los Estados Unidos.

A lo largo de su historia los Marines se ha dicho que son un cuerpo tenaz en la defensa y agresivo en el ataque. Por estas supuestas características durante la primera guerra mundial el ejército alemán al enfrentarse a ellos viendo el espíritu de lucha de los Marines los apodó "Teufel Hunden" (en alemán, Perros del Diablo) cuyo apodo se ha mantenido hasta hoy ("Devil Dogs"). Otra hito importante en la historia del Cuerpo de Marines fue la Batalla de Iwo Jima durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial, donde después de días de intensa lucha tras un desembarco, se izó la bandera de los Estados Unidos en suelo japonés.

También fueron enviados a Vietnam, donde participaron en la Ofensiva del Tet en el año 1968. Pero finalmente derrotaron a la guerrilla invasora en la guerra de Vietnam.

Los Marines participaron además en la invasión de Granada en 1983 donde se envió a la 22º Unidad Anfibia de Marines (Marine Amphibious Unit o M.A.U.), la invasión de Panamá durante el 1989, la operación Tormenta del Desierto durante la primera guerra del golfo en 1990 y fueron la vanguardia de las invasiones durante la Operación Libertad Duradera en el 2001 donde los Estados Unidos invadieron Afganistán y durante la Operación Libertad Iraquí en 2003.

Para estandardizar la compensación, cada grado tiene asignado una paga. Las tablas que se muestran a continuación indican el rango, la abreviación, y el emblema correspondiente de cada rango.

Oficiales

Los Oficiales son distinguidos del resto de miembros por su comisión, que es la autoridad escrita formal, publicada en nombre del Presidente de los Estados Unidos, que demuestra el rango y la autoridad de un Oficial de Marines. Los oficiales tienen así la confianza del Presidente de los Estados Unidos. Los empleos de Oficial se subdividen Oficiales Generales y Particulares.

Tropa

Los reclutados del Cuerpo de Marines comprendidos etre los rangos E-1 y E-3 no son considerados Suboficiales (NCOs) y son llamados generalmente no-NCOs. Tambien son denominados "non-task" (sin tarea) debido a la tradición de la Armada estadounidense de no asignar una habilidad especifica de trabajo o especialidad (task) a los marineros hasta que estos alcancen la categoría de Suboficial (Petty Officer) Cuando cada Marine tiene cierta habilidad del trabajo asignada sobre la terminación de la instrucción inicial de la entrada, la no-tasa del término no se corrige lógicamente o técnicamente. Aunque ellos no tengan técnicamente liderazgo los rangos, la Cuerpos' genio enfatiza el liderazgo entre todos Marina, y Marina menores a menudo son asignados para cierta responsabilidad normalmente reservado para superiores.

Los comprendidos en los grados de paga de E-4 y E-5 son los Suboficiales (NCOs, Non Comissioned Officers). Su función es supervisar a la tropa y actúan como una conexión esencial con la Oficialidad, asegurando que las órdenes se llevan a cabo correctamente. A partir del nivel E-6 son considerados Suboficiales (SNCOs, Senior NCOs) cuya funcion consiste en la supervision de otros NCOs y actuando como consejeros de sus subordinados.

Los grados E-8 y E-9 cada uno tiene dos grados por el grado de la paga, cada cual con responsabilidades diferentes. Los Sargentos (E-7 del tiro) indica en sus evaluaciones anuales, llamó la "salud los informes", o "fitreps" para corto, su vestigio promocional preferido: El Sargento Mayor o Primero Sargento. El Primer Sargento y el Sargento los grados Mayores son orden-orientados, con Marina de estos grados que sirven como el mayor Marina reclutados en una unidad, cargaron para ayudar el comandante en el asunto de la disciplina, de la administración y la moral y del bienestar de la unidad. Los Sargentos Mayores y los Sargentos Magistrales del Tiro Les proporcionan el liderazgo técnico especialistas como profesionales en su MOS específico. Primero Sargentos sirven típicamente como el mayor Marina reclutado en una compañía, la batería u otra unidad en escalón semejante, mientras Sargentos Mayores sirven el mismo papel en batallones, escuadras o unidades más grande.

El Sargento Mayor del Cuerpo de Marines es un rango extraordinario consultado por el mayor de reclutación a todo el Cuerpo de los Marines, personalmente escogido por el Comandante del Cuerpo Marine. El Sargento Mayor usa galones extraordinarios con el Águila, el Globo, y Ancla en el centro, flanqueado por dos estrellas de cinco puntos.

Armas de infantería

El arma básica de infantería del Cuerpo de Marines es la familia de fusiles de asalto M16. La mayoría de los marines van equipados con el M16A2 o rifles de servicio M16A4, o más recientemente con la carabina M4 que es una variante compacta. El fuego represivo es proporcionado por el M249 SAW y la ametralladora M240G, en los niveles de escuadra y compañía respectivamente. Además, el fuego indirecto es proporcionado por el lanzagranadas M203 para equipos de ataque, el M224 un mortero de 60 mm en compañías, y el M252 un mortero de 81 mm en batallones. La ametralladora pesada M2 calibre 0,50 y el lanzagranadas automático MK19 (40 mm) están disponible para el uso por la infantería, aunque estas armas por lo general son utilizados instalados sobre vehículos. El fuego de precisión es proporcionado por los rifles de francotirador USMC y M40A3.

El Cuerpo de Marines utiliza una variedad de cohetes de fuego directo y misiles como fuerza ofensiva y capacidad anti blindaje defensiva. El SMAW y AT4 son cohetes guiados, que pueden destruir blindajes y defensas fijas hasta 500 m de distancia. El "Depredador" SRAW, FGM-148 Javelin y BGM-71 REMOLQUE son misiles teledirigidos antitanques. Los tres pueden utilizar los perfiles del primero-ataque para evitar blindaje frontal pesado. El Animal de rapiña es un fuego de corto alcance y se olvida arma; la Jabalina y el REMOLQUE están misiles más pesados efectivos pasados 2.000 metros que dan la infantería una capacidad ofensiva contra blindaje.

Transporte terrestre

El Cuerpo opera con el Vehículo de Ruedas Multiuso de Alta Movilidad (HMMWV o Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle) y el Tanque Principal de batalla -M1A1 Abrams, que son idénticas a las uniddaes que utiliza el ejército de EE.UU. Sin embargo, para sus necesidades específicas, el cuerpo posee un conjunto de varios vehículos especiales.

El LAV 25 es un transporte rodado blindado, que proporciona capacidades de movilidad estratégica del personal.[1]​ La capacidad Anfibia es proporcionada por el Vehículo Anfibio de Asalto AAV-7A1, un tractor blindado que a la vez puede ser utilizado como ransporte blindado de personal en tierra. El mismo será reemplazado en breve por el Vehículo Luchador Expedicionario, un vehículo notablemente más rápido que incorpora un mejor blindaje y armamento. Las amenazas de las minas terrestres y artefactos explosivos improvisados en Iraq y Afganistán ha hecho que el Cuerpo comenzara a incorporar vehículos blindados pesados Puma y Búfalo que pueden resistir mejor los efectos de estas armas, esto forma parte del "programa de desarrollo de vehículos resistentes a emboscadas".[2]​ El Cuerpo de Marines ha comprado 1960 vehículos Internacionales MaxxPro MRAP, aunque algunos de estos vehículos han siso asignados a otras ramas de las fuerzas armadas. El Cuerpo de Marines espera utilizar los vehículos de MRAP para reemplazar todos los HMMWVs en las patrullas en Iraq.[3]​

Con anterioridad al 2005, los Marines operaban exclusivamente artillería tipo obús de 155 mm —el M198 howitzer, el cual ha sido reemplazado por el obús M777 de 155 mm howitzer. En el 2005, el Cuerpo amplió la composición de su artillería incorporando al "sistema de cohete de Artillería de alta Movilidad" (HIMARS), un sistema de artillería de cohete montado sobre camión. Ambos son capaces de disparar municiones guiadas.[4]​

Bases

Las bases del Cuerpo de Marines se concentran ubicadas en aquellos sitios donde se asignan misiones de las Fuerzas Expedicionarias Marines (MEF), aunque las unidades de reserva se encuentran dispersas a través de los Estados Unidos. Las bases principales son el Camp Pendleton en la costa Oeste, que aloja a la la primera division de infanteria de marina; el Camp Lejeune en la costa este, que aloja a la segunda division de infanteria, y el Camp Butler en Okinawa, Japón, que aloja a la tercera division de infanteria de marina .
