Modesto Texidor y Torres[editar]

Modesto Texidor signed his name 'Texidor' and our family continue to use "Texidor" to this very day. I have researched my family - including his father, Jose Texidor y Busquets, his sister, Josefa (Pepita) Texidor, and their brother, Emilio Texidor y Torres - also an artist, who continued the business Hijos de J. Texidor, after their father's death in 1892. Emilio died young in ~1909 - leaving 4 sons and 2 daughters.. his widowed wife took over the shop, renaming it to 'Viuda de E. Texidor'. The name 'Texidor' in the shop is preserved through time in mosaic by Raspall and I've yet to see any proposals to convert it to Teixidor.. nor any adulteration of Pepita's statue in Parc de la Cuitadella to 'Teixidor'.

Sure.. the verb 'teixir' inherited from old Catalan 'texir' and Latin 'texere' and the noun from the verb 'teixidor' now exist and are used widely... but this is not a reason to change our surname to the same - we are not teixidores, we are Texidor. No-one altered the names on es.wiki of Juan Texidor y Cos, or Greville Texidor (my grandfather's first wife), or Jaume/Jaime Texidor y Dalmau. Zorgster (discusión) 19:11 28 abr 2024 (UTC)[responder]
