Philippe Pierre Nadouce (Born 12 May 1965) is an award-winning French writer, playwright, and theatre director. He is also a UK academic. He received his first international award from Arts et Lettres de France in 1993 for best play Les Rivières. He was awarded two more times by Arts et Lettres de France, in 1996 for best play La ferraille and 1998 for best play "La confession du guide de musée Pierre Lamek". He was also awarded from The Accolade Competition (California) in 2007 for a short film: Nothing. (Idiot Internazional Independent Production).

Philippe studied acting in the prestigious Cours Florent in 1986 (Paris). He is also an alumnus of the Escuela de Arte Teatral Ángel Gutiérrez (Madrid) and Escuela de Interpretación Crístina Rota (Madrid). He was noted as a frequent collaborator with Joseph Morder, in the 1990’s.

He is also an academic, Philippe Nadouce collaborated as visiting lecturer for several prestigious universities in the United Kingdom such as SOAS University of London, University of Westminster (London), London Metropolitan University, but also in Italy, Bocconi University, in France, École Supérieure de Commerce de Paris (ESCP) and INSEEC Grande école.

Early life

Philippe Nadouce was born in Saint-Martin de Ré (Charente Maritime), on 12 May 1965. The family home was in Île de Ré. Nadouce was educated at the local school College Les Salières, then went to Lycée Jean Dautet (La Rochelle), and Université de Poitiers where he studied Economics.

Career

Most of his artistic career takes place in Spain (Mainly in Madrid). His academic career developed in the UK.

Spain

Nadouce starts as an actor in a production from El Teatro de Cámara Chejov, Summer folk (1991), followed by a part in a movie from Jorge Carrasco, El conductor (1998).

In 1989 he creates his own theater company: el Teatro del Zaguan with Maria Fernandez Ache with whom he starts an artistic collaboration that still lasts today. In 1995, Fernández Ache founds the El Globo Teatro company. Nadouce works for the company as an executive producer, touring in Europe and Africa until 2001.

In 1993, he meets Cristina Rota and co-founds with her, Juan Diego Boto, Gustavo Salmeron, Aitor Merino, Armando del Rio, the theatre La Sala del Mirador and the theatre company Nuevo Repertorio. The company produced and stages several of Nadouce’s plays.

Between 2001 and 2021, Nadouce lived in London but he returned regularly to work in Spain. In 2009, he is Will Keen’s assistant director in Romeo and Juliet.

In 2023, he is the assistant director of María Fernández Ache’s Ghosts production by E. Ibsen in El Teatro Español de Madrid.

Besides Fernández Ache, Ángel Gutiérrez y Cristina Rota, Nadouce collaborated with playwright Fermin Cabal, and actor and director Will Keen.

United Kingdom

Nadouce arrived in London at the end of 2001 and settled in the district of Chiswick. He studies at the Royal Court Theatre. In 2003, he staged Tartuffe at the Haymarket Theater (Basingstoke).

He collaborates with the English director Sacha Wares, co-wrote with Maria Fernandez Ache an adaptation of Platforms by Michel Houellebecq which is staged at the Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA - London).

Nadouce began his literary career in 2002 with the publication of his first novel: Cahier Madrilènes. (Ed. Le Manuscrit). He has already written several plays to his credit, all performed in Madrid. He managed to juggle art and his academic career.

He then begins an academic career that continues today. He starts to collaborate with several universities in London.

He gets his first academic job at London Metropolitan University as a visiting lecturer, teaching foreign languages. He is then employed by London South Bank University, University of East London, SOAS University of London, and several prestigious French business schools.

In 2013, he gets a Master of Art in Bio-Linguistics (Distinction) at the University of Greenwich.

From 2017 onwards, Nadouce is passionate about cryptocurrencies and obtains a Master of Science in Digital Currency (University of Nicosia 2018). He then starts to work as a blockchain lecturer and consultant. In 2022, he founds his own academy online: www.bloqleap.com
