Review of Translation[editar]

Hello, Mr. Kellner. Please to meet you! It's an honor for me to be able to help you about your grandfather spanish article. Sorry for my poor English. About my review and your question: my Castilian dialect is almost exactly the same as Mexican dialect: moreover I always have used standard Spanish in Wikipedia. Therefore dialectal differences haven't not related with problems I has encountered. The problem is I think that your friend has used an automatic translator (or maybe he's not a native spanish speaker). There was serious problems, "false friends", such as "progrom" translated as "programa" (i.e. "program" in English) or "gymnasium" translated as "gimnasio" (i.e. "gym") and a lot of syntax mistakes and so. Don't worry, it doesn't matter: I will take care to leave it accurated! ;-) Cheers! Yonderboy (discusión) 01:15 19 ene 2007 (CET)

Your English is quite good, Yonderboy. You are right: there was an online translator involved. I thought I could do the job myself and put the original in the Alta Vista translator. But I quickly gave up. I then gave both the online translation and the original English to my friend, and she worked on it for a few hours. Apparently she did not go far enough with it. And there is yet another explanation: Although she was born in Mexico and is a native speaker of Spanish, she is young (born around 1986), and it is possible she didn't understand some of the words: for example, she didn't realize that a gymnasium in German is a high school and not a work-out gym, etc. Anyway, I won't hurt her feelings and tell her how much was wrong. Let me state again how much I appreciate your help in this matter. If you think you need any other photos or any other information about my grandfather, feel free to send me an email. Thanks again, Scott --Rskellner 05:05 19 ene 2007 (CET)
