Continue into personal info(early life), education, why she chose a life of literature (sickness/private tutor, brief intro on her career paths, later life and death. Last section of intro should include details on her work/common characteristics, themes, and how she has affected ppl today.

-Sections:

• Biography(Trayectoria)(expansion on intro): subsections: early years, adolescence, adulthood:subsection:(La independización/carrera docente, relationships, politics), final years.

• Characteristics of her works: what(novels, poetry theatre, etc), themes, styles, characters, sources of motivation/influences

1. Temas: representación de lo contemporáneo costarricense en todos los niveles de la vida urbana

• Véase también:
• Obras: define each piece of work (if possible) atleast one from each category (dramatica, lirica, Autos sacramentales, otros)
• Criticas:
• Acknowledgments:
• Obras(list and links if possible):
• Ediciones: old, modern.
• Notas al pie: foot notes that define specific terms used. in text words should be linked with "notas"(where little number goes) that re-directs to the foot note section.
• references: every intext citation must have a little number that corresponds to the numerical order in which the references/external links are listed at the bottom of the page.
• Bibliography: Alphabetical order of the references used.

So Margaret, how do you feel about doing a section on her works by discussing in short; themes, common characteristics, motives etc.? Yup, Mpen13 has definitely been making progress. I am at the library myself right now, checking out the print version of the online sources that have been causing us so much grief. I should say (as I have done to Mpen13) that, if at all possible, you should try to avoid tertiary sources, such as theses ones from Gale. The Ardis Nelson is at least much better than the anon one. Still, the thing is to find decent secondary sources. I know that this is more difficult with Naranjo than with other authors, but I've added a few myself that you can use, and the Nelson article references a whole bunch more. --Jbmurray (discusión) 22:51 25 mar 2015 (UTC)

Heh, Margaretyjkim, the sources I'm looking at here are mostly (as I say) not very good ones. The halfway-decent one is this: Nelson, Ardis L. (1994). «Carmen Naranjo». En Luis, William; González, Ann, eds. Modern Latin-American Fiction Writers: Second Series. Dictionary of Literary Biography 145. Detroit: Gale. pp. 193-204. ISBN 9780810355590. . It's at PN451 .D5 V. 145, down in the basement at Koerner's. Beyond the biographical details (that Mpen13 has mostly already added), it offers an overview of Naranjo's work, basically a paragraph for each book. Oh, and there are pictures! It does have a useful bibliography of further sources, though it's a bit out of date (as it was published in 1994). So you want mostly to rely on the better sources you've already identified (above), plus any others you can find--such as the essay in Doris Meyer's Reinterpreting the Spanish American essay.

Anyhow, the article is coming along, mostly thanks to Mpen13's efforts. What we need now is an account of Naranjo's writing: discussion of some of the books, themes, style, critical and literary reception etc. --Jbmurray (discusión) 23:16 25 mar 2015 (UTC)

Jbmurray-- did you delete the source that I have been using and which i showed you in class? (benford et al.), or did you replace it with Anon?? I find it very frustrating seeing all of these changes to the work that I've done. I appreciate help, but please let me know if I'm doing something wrong so I wont continue doing it. Also for my own peace of mind. It has been very difficult to find any other source at UBC that isn't Terciary. For several reasons: The in the bibliographies of the resources that that I have used ( Ardis Nelson and ) are not available via UBC, and most of them require purchase. Secondly, any reasonable secondary sources, such as Doris Meyer's Reinterpreting the Spanish American essay, have been checked out. I've requested this specific resource and it will hopefully be returned on Friday. As for all the citations from Rubio, Patricia being on the same page (350), this pertains to a significantly long list that Rubio cited on Naranjo's works. Hey, Mpen13:

1. As I say above, I went to the library to look for the Contemporary Authors book (for which you showed me the pics on your phone), and it's now cited as Anon (1999). «Naranjo, Carmen 1930 -». En Peacock, Scot, ed. Contemporary Authors 175. Detroit: Gale. pp. 339-342. ISBN 9780787626709. . You can see that I didn't delete it: it's still used eleven times in the article. Where possible, however, I preferred to use the Nelson source; there's a lot of overlap between the two, so much so that it looks like the Contemporary Authors entry is essentially based on the earlier, longer, signed article, with a few updates. But nothing that you've added has been lost.
2. And as I noted at the beginning of the semester, I understand and recognize that finding good sources for Naranjo would be more difficult than for the other authors we're covering. Inter-Library Loan would have been the way to deal with this, but there we go. Still, with what we've got the article is already much improved, and all we need now is material on her writing. I guess we're waiting for ZoeN02 and Margaretyjkim to step up here.

Hey, Mpen13, no worries. Quite understood. Meanwhile, it's great that you've put in an order with ILL. It may not arrive in time, and if it doesn't, then so be it. But we may have some luck. As for your question, there's no problem at all using two sources by the same person. I see you've already gone ahead and started sticking some stuff in from that essay, which is grand. I am writing an essay on Naranjo and came across this pretty informative source (As informative as sources on Naranjo can be, anyways.It has been a needle in a haystack search so far). It includes a biography but also literary criticism which I believe is good for a wiki article. I am taking the book out of the library, but the google books version has all but one page: Spanish American Women Writers: A Bio-bibliographical Source Book. Also there is this very short one (page 431-432)Hope it is helpful!
