Kenneth James Noye (born 24 May 1947) is a British criminal who was convicted of the 1996 murder of Stephen Cameron.

Noye was involved in laundering the proceeds of the Brinks Mat robbery in 1983. While he was being investigated for his part

in the robbery, he stabbed to death a police officer (John Fordham) who was observing Noye from the grounds of his home.

Noye was acquitted of murder on the grounds of self-defence, but was sentenced to 14 years in prison in 1986 for handling

stolen gold. He was released from prison in 1994, having served 8 years of his sentence. Two years later, in 1996, Noye

became involved in an altercation with 21-year-old motorist Stephen Cameron on the M25 motorway during what was

described at the time as a road rage incident, but has also been suggested to have been dispute over a drug deal, Cameron

being a small-time drug dealer who owed Noye money. It however suited the purposes of both the prosecution and the

defence to not mention this during the trial.[1] During the fight, Noye stabbed and killed Cameron with a knife. Noye

immediately fled the country, sparking a massive police hunt. In 1998 he was tracked down in Spain, and Cameron’s 17-year

old girlfriend Danielle Cable, who had witnessed the killing, was secretly flown out to positively identify him. Another

eyewitness, Alan Decabral, declined protection and was shot dead in his car in Ashford, Kent on 5 October 2000. However,

police sources stated that he was himself involved in drug and gun-smuggling, and that his death was detrimental to Noye’s

forthcoming appeal, which would have concentrated on discrediting him.[2] Noye was a police informant for many years,[3]

Bermudas (Bermuda, en inglés), es un archipiélago de América del Norte en el océano Atlántico, que forma parte del Territorio Británico de Ultramar. Es uno de los 16 territorios no autónomos bajo supervisión del Comité de Descolonización de las Naciones Unidas, con el fin de eliminar el colonialismo.

Se atribuye el descubrimiento a Juan Bermúdez, de Palos de la Frontera (Huelva, España), a principios del siglo XVI, probablemente en 1503.

Historia

A principios del siglo XX, cuando el transporte moderno y los sistemas de comunicación se desarrollaron, las Bermudas se hicieron un destino popular para turistas estadounidenses, británicos y canadienses ricos. Además, la tarifa decretada por los Estados Unidos en 1930 dañó el comercio agrícola de exportación - principalmente de verduras frescas con los Estados Unidos - estimulando con ello el desarrollo de la industria turística en el territorio de ultramar, que, tras el comercio internacional, es la segunda en importancia económica de la isla.

Durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial, las Bermudas adquirieron importancia como base militar debido a su posición estratégica en el Océano Atlántico. En 1941, los Estados Unidos firmaron un acuerdo de préstamo-arriendo con el Reino Unido, dando a los británicos los destructores del ejército estadounidenses de sobra a cambio de derechos de arriendo durante 99 años, para establecer bases navales y aéreas en Bermudas[cita requerida]. Las bases consistían en 5,8 kilómetros cuadrados (2,25 millas cuadradas.) de tierra, en gran parte reclamada al mar. La Estación Aérea Naval estadounidense estaba sobre la Isla de Saint David, mientras su Anexo se hallaba al final occidental de la isla, en el Gran Fondeadero.

Desde el 1 de septiembre de 1995, ambas bases fueron clausuradas, dado que eran bases británicas y canadienses en la isla. Las cuestiones sin resolver acerca de la retirada en 1995 de las fuerzas estadounidenses - relacionadas principalmente con factores ambientales - retrasaron la vuelta formal de las tierras bajas al Gobierno de Bermudas. Los Estados Unidos, formalmente, devolvieron las tierras de sus bases en 2002.

Geografía

La geografía de Bermudas es llena de diversidad. Las islas de Bermudas son un manojo de alrededor 150 islas extendieron por básicamente el Océano Atlántico del norte. Ponen a esta colonia británica flourishing contra el contexto fascinador de la costa de Carolina. Las islas de Bermudas arrellanan sobre un área de 53.3 kilómetros cuadrados. Con sus rocas innumerables y zona costera magnífica, ofertas de la geografía de Bermudas bastante para encantarle.

Características geográficas de las islas de Bermudas

La mayoría de las islas en el territorio bermudeno es deshabitada. Los naturales y los invasores extranjeros ocupan alrededor 20 islotes de Bermudas. Demografía

La población es un 54,8% de raza negra, 34,1% blanca y 6,4% multirracial. Las islas tienen una pequeña, pero creciente, comunidad de asiáticos. Una porción significativa de la población es también descendiente de portugueses (10%), como resultado de la inmigración de habitantes de las islas que pertenecen o pertenecían a Portugal, en especial de las Islas Azores, durante los últimos 160 años.

Triángulo de las Bermudas

Aunque el misterio se remonta a mediados del siglo XIX, la mayor parte de las supuestas desapariciones han ocurrido desde 1945. A partir de esta fecha se dice que se han perdido más de mil personas, en el aire o en el mar, sin que se haya podido recuperar ni un solo cuerpo.

Una de las leyendas de la isla es la de un ciudadano francés, Robert Lamaison, del que se cuenta que era un gran alquimista, que en el año 1685 encontró una enorme fortuna en oro y joyas valiosas al navegar por el entorno del Triángulo de las Bermudas. La leyenda cuenta que Robert Lamaison, poseedor de conocimientos esotéricos, reencarna periódicamente, naciendo en los años "61" de cada siglo[cita requerida].

Otras leyendas de la región hablan de barcos encontrados abandonados con comida aún caliente en las mesas, y aviones que desaparecieron sin siquiera haber lanzado una llamada de socorro. Se cuenta que a veces han sido encontrados animales vivos a la deriva en botes o lanchas, como perros o canarios, pero nunca nadie que pudiera contar lo sucedido. Otros alegan que la ausencia de restos, ya que en la mayoría de los casos desaparecen por completo, podría deberse a las fuertes corrientes, (tanto marinas como de vientos) y a la profundidad de las aguas[cita requerida].

Estas historias han contribuido para acrecentar el turismo en la zona de "Las Bermudas".

Otros investigadores, entre ellos el propio Jacques Cousteau, han manifestado en que esa parte del Atlántico no hay nada especialmente misterioso ni diferente de lo que puede encontrarse en cualquier otra lugar del océano.

El bibliotecario de la Universidad de Arizona y piloto Lawrence Kusche estudió los casos publicados por autores como Chaerles Berliz como misteriosas desapariciones y concluyó que muchas de ellas eran barcos y aviones que nunca han existido, otros habían desaparecido en otras fechas y en otras regiones del planeta[1]​ y los que sí han existido, como los bombarderos estadounidenses desaparecidos a finales de los años 1940 (los Grumman TBF Avenger del Flight 19), lo fueron tras varias horas de vuelo tratando de encontrar referencias visuales para volver a la base y agotar totalmente su combustible, sin perder nunca el contacto por radio, como demostró la BBC. El hidroavión que desapareció en su rescate pertenecía a un modelo con numerosas explosiones en vuelo a causa de la poca seguridad en los depósitos de combustible (PBM Mariner flying boat). Por último, concluía el programa de la BBC, los expertos en rescates informan que no encontrar restos de un naufragio o amerizaje es completamente normal porque el agua disuelve buena parte de las manchas y los restos se esparcen hasta ser casi irrecuperables; esa es una de las razones de por qué los buques y cajas negras van equipados con radiobalizas para marcar su localización.
