Thais Lawton (18 de junio de 1879 — 18 de diciembre de 1956) fue una actriz estadounidense.

Primeros años[editar]

Eugenia (o Eugenie) Thais Lawton fue criada y educada en Louisville, Kentucky,[1]​[2]​ hija de Joseph Eugene Lawton y Caroline Thais Magrane; su padre era inglés y su madre francesa.[3]​ La también actriz Thais Magrane era su prima.[4]​ Utilizó tanto su nombre como su segundo nombre profesionalmente hasta aproximadamente 1906, cuando empezó a preferir "Thais Lawton".[5]​

Carrera[editar]

Lawton estuvo en activo en los escenarios neoyorquinos de 1900 a 1940, más conocida por interpretar a "aventureras" y "villanas".[6]​ "Me temo que interpretar sólo a heroínas simpáticas se convertiría en algo tedioso", explicó a un periodista en 1923.[7]​

Lawton apareció en dos películas mudas, The Battle Cry of Peace (1915), y The Pardon (1915).[16]​ Más tarde dio clases de interpretación; entre sus alumnas se encontraba la actriz Marie Wallace.[17]​

Vida personal[editar]

En 1922, Lawton conducía cuando su coche atropelló y mató a un niño que se precipitó a la calle; no fue declarada culpable.[18]​ Thais Lawton se casó con Percy McDermott; pronto se divorciaron. Murió en 1956, a la edad de 78 años.[19]​
