(1)In our article today we are going to be learning a little more about the interesting life and work of one of the most important artists of popular music of the 20th century in the United States. Better known as Frank Sinatra, remembered not only for his contribution to music but also for his performance as an American actor.[1]

Date of birth[editar]

Francis Albert Sinatra was born on December 12, 1915 in Hoboken, (2)It is a city located west of Manhattan, on the opposite bank of the Hudson River, about 15 minutes by train or ferry (New Jersey, USA). Son of a married couple of Italian emigrants who traveled to America in search of a better life.[2]

(3)He workeis cd as a messenger for the Hudson Observer newspaper until in 1939 his talent as a singer led him to occupy the position of vocalist in different orchestras, including those of Harry James and Tommy Dorsey. He had previously tried it on his own without much luck in the group The Hoboken Four.[3]

Golden years[editar]

The 'American dream' began materialized in his son, who, despite his humble origins, managed to reach the Hollywood firmament. In 1943, Sinatra signed with Columbia Records to later sign with Capitol, with which he recorded 17 albums. It was his golden age, during which he began to experiment with the voice until he achieved that style that made him so special and made him the 'crooner' par excellence.

Having been an actor as well, this artist has remained to be part of the musical culture of yesterday and today, and his songs will always be present no matter how time goes by. Today we tell you everything about his life, how he started in music, the way his career unfolded and even some of his most important phrases, which there is no doubt that you will love if you consider yourself a fan of him.[6]

(7)Although he will always be remembered as "La Voz" and his more than 1,200 recorded songs, the truth is that his film career cannot be overlooked. Fifty titles, some important awards and the fact of sharing the bill with other great stars of the time, is an impressive background, for a singer who wanted to try his luck in the world of celluloid.

His filmography, therefore, is extensive and includes many unforgettable moments, not in vain, he stood out in one of the most fruitful and outstanding stages that Hollywood has lived. So making a selection of his best works is not easy, but according to my particular taste and the great feeling they left me, I would highlight five films by the great Sinatra:

His Dead[editar]

(8)Sinatra began to show signs of dementia in his later years. After a heart attack in February 1997. After suffering another heart attack, he died at 10:50 pm on May 14, 1998, at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Sinatra's last words, spoken, were: "I'm losing". The official cause of his death was classified as complications of dementia, heart disease, and kidney and bladder cancer. On May 20, 1998, the burial took place at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Beverly Hills, with 400 assistants, including Gregory Peck, Tony Bennett and Frank Sinatra Jr. The words "The Best Is Yet to Come" are imprinted on his headstone.[8]
