Kalgaron/Taller/Samuel T. Cohen

Samuel Theodore Cohen (25 de enero de 1921 – 28 de noviembre de 2010) fue un físico estadounidense.

Biografía[editar]

Nació en Brooklyn. Estudió matemáticas y física en la Universidad de California.

Formó parte del proyecto Manhattan, el esfuerzo durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial para ser de los primeros en desarrollar la primera arma nuclear en el Laboratorio Nacional de Los Álamos, en Nuevo México, Estados Unidos.

Coloquialmente es considerado el padre de la bomba de neutrones, arma ideada para matar únicamente seres vivos sin causar grandes daños materiales en los edificios y propiedades de la zona afectada por la explosión. Cohen la diseñó en 1958, Estados Unidos no la fabricó hasta la década de los ochenta.

Murió el 28 de noviembre de 2010 en su casa de Los Ángeles como consecuencia de un cáncer de estómago.[1]​
