Javier de Echevarría Carreres[editar]

Javier de Echavarría Carreres (Madrid -Spain- May 21, 1976) is a Spanish serial entrepreneur and Business Angel with more than two decades of experience in the biotechnology and diagnostics industries.

He has founded Labec Pharma and Veritas Intercontinental amongst others. Today he is the CEO of Veritas a letsgetchecked Company. He is known as one of the most representative personalities of the European biotechnology industry, according to the economic newspaper 5 Días.

He is also the VI Count of Baynoa.

Education and career[editar]

Javier de Echevarría holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a SMP by IE University.

Vice-President of “Fundación Marqués de Vista Alegre”^[1], a non-for -profit organization that helps low-income students access university studies. De Echevarría is also member of the Advisory Board of South Summit, and supports entrepreneurship through both mentoring activities and as a Business Angel.

Professionally, his career has developed mainly in the health sector, particularly in the field of innovation in medical and genetic diagnostics. In 2004 he co-founded Labec Pharma, a company focused in developing tests for women´s health and oncology. He acted as CEO until 2009 when the company become part of Labco Quality Diagnostics, one of the largest clinical laboratories in Europe, where he became Chief Innovation Sales and Marketing Officer. In 2015 Labco was acquired by CINVEN^[2] and merged with Synlab^[3] International, creating the largest Diagnostics Group in Europe, where he was appointed Chief Innovation Officer. During this period, De Echevarría pioneered the successful introduction in Europe of many molecular genetics tests such as NIPT^[4], Carrier Screening^[5], Liquid Biopsy^[6], etc. In 2018 he co-founded Veritas Intercontinental, together with doctors Luis Izquierdo^[7] and Vincenzo Cirigliano, which quickly became a reference in the field of preventive genetics. Since its foundation he has been CEO and Director of Veritas Intercontinental, having driven its expansion mainly in Europe, Latin America and Middle East. Veritas Intercontinental is headquartered in Madrid, Spain, and operates in more than 35 countries, being a leader in whole genome sequencing^[8] (WGS) interpretation for healthy individuals and in the field of prenatal diagnostics. Veritas Intercontinental was acquired in March 2022 by LetsGetChecked.^[9]
