BOGOTÁ: CHALLENGES IN HOUSING CONSTRUCTION

The 71% of the constructions in Bogotá are to housing since year to year the capital of Colombia receives people from other cities and migration in search of better opportunities. However, it’s necessary that the city to grow according to the new social, economic and technological challenges for Bogotá to become a global city with high levels quality life.  Additionally, with the COVID pandemic, the houses have acquired  more importance, further the climate crisis that requires from housing buildings will take more measures environmentally friendly. Therefore, by 2040 new homes will be functional and sustainable. In other words, Bogotá will have many challenges in terms of housing to be a modern city like others in the world. So next, I am going to present my predictions about housing in Bogotá.

Predictions

First, the new housing construction are being in very tall buildings because there going to be more people in a less spaces. These buildings going to have many spaces for people don't move to other places. Might,  the apartments will be functional so that people can carry out various activities in their homes (studying, working, having fun, etc). Second, The buildings going to be intelligent structures for the efficient use of resources such as water, electricity and gas. For that reason it's going to design for recycling and self-sustainability. Finally, the local government might require the construction companies that the apartments have a minimum of meters to have a quality of life and spaces with dignity for citizens personality development.

Conditionals

In my opinion, if the previous predictions are possible, Bogotá get to become an attractive city. Consequently, the citizens will have housing designed for real needs according their social and economic context If the construction companies have social and environmental responsibility plans with innovative designs. Evidently it is important the regulation about housing constructions for improve standards so if the government local demande transparency, innovation and sustainability, people will have more opportunities to acquire best and functionally houses.
