Chu Tʻien-wen (Chino: 朱天文), nacida el 24 de agosto de 1956, es una escritora de ficción taiwanesa. Chu es mejor conocida por escribir los guiones de la mayoría de las películas de Hou Hsiao-hsien. Recibió el Premio Newman de Literatura China 2015.

Su padre, Chu Hsi-ning, y su hermana menor Chu T'ien-hsin también son escritores famosos.

Biografía[editar]

La escritora nació en Taipei, Taiwán, dentro de una de las familias literaria más prestigiosa del Taiwán contemporáneo. Su maestro fue Hu Lancheng, y también estuvo muy influenciada por Eileen Chang. [1]​Publicó su primera novela en 1972. [2]​ En 1983, Chu adaptó la galardonada novela "Growing Up" a un guión para la gran pantalla. Además de ganar el premio al mejor guión adaptado del 20º premio Golden Horse, [3]​ Chu también coprodujo la banda sonora.

Durante su período en la Universidad de Tamkang, Chu se desempeñó como editora en jefa de la revista The Threes (Sansan jikan 三三集刊), y cofundó la editorial The Threes Bookstore (Sansan shufang 三三書坊) con su hermana y amigos. [4]​ [5]​ En 1985, escribió el guión " The Time to Live and the Time to Die " y ganó el premio al mejor guión original en el 22º Golden Horse Award de Taiwán. [6]​ Algunas de sus novelas notables son Fin-de-Siècle Splendor (世紀末的華麗, 1990), Notes of a Desolate Man (荒人手記, 1994) y Witch's Brew (巫言, 2008). Escribió muchos de los guiones del famoso director taiwanés Hou Hsiao-hsien. Sus créditos como guionista incluyen películas como Taipei Story, The Puppetmaster, Goodbye South, Goodbye, Millennium Mambo, City of Sadness悲情城市 (1989) y más.

Chu fue nombrada ganadora del Premio Newman de Literatura China 2015 por Esplendor de Fin-de-Siècle, convirtiéndola en la primera escritora en ganar el premio. [7]​ Chu llegó a la Universidad de Oklahoma para recibir el Premio Newman a principios de marzo de 2015 y participó en el Salón de Cine Chino financiado por el Presidential Dream Course on Chinese Cinema. [8]​ También ha sido galardonada con el premio al Mejor Guión en el Festival Internacional de Cine de Venecia y en el Festival Internacional de Cine de Tokio. [9]​
